No Carcass Left Behind

Ryan Battleson with ODFW asked that we post this volunteer opportunity to club members.  Saturday, November 11th.  Looks interesting!!

Hey all,
Ryan here, your local STEP Biologist.  I wanted to ask if there may be anyone interested in volunteering for a VERY LARGE carcass toss!  It’s more of a carcass stringin’/carcass float.   I’m working with John Thiebes and Larry Butts of the local CCA.  I believe quite a few veterans and guides are helping them out next weekend, November 11.  They are the lead volunteers for this project and asked if I knew of anyone wanting to participate.  I recall that Keith Miller and a few of you joined last year.  You’d need to complete a current ODFW Conditions of Volunteer Service form if you’d be helping.
Project is distributing ~ 20,000 pounds of hatchery Spring Chinook carcasses in the upper Rogue via drift boat and bank.
What they need:
3-5 volunteers to help loading salmon carcasses onto stringers from the bank.  This requires some bending, stooping, lifting dead fish weighing 15-40 lbs.
1-2 shuttle drivers
They already have 7 boats, but if you are an experienced oarsman/oarswoman, hold liability insurance on your vessel they’d probably take you!
Good fun (see attached flyer).
