Rehab Center

Outing June 5^th on the Upper Rogue.  

Fall Class: 

Sept 11, 18, 25, and October 2^nd. Same time and place

Outing October 9th

These dates are subject to change due to weather and

river conditions.

As usual I can always use flies for each of these outings.  

It would be nice to know ahead of time what flies I will be 

getting so I can plan accordingly.

This workshop is based on Rick Hafele and Dave’s original workshop “Entomology and
the Artificial Fly”, which became their classic book Western Hatches and eventually
Dave’s book Pocketguide to Western Hatches. It’s taken Dave more than three decades to
gather the color photos of the aquatic insects in all the critical stages of each important
Western hatch. This workshop is worth what it costs just to see the beautiful color photos
of all the insects that trout make a living eating. It covers mayflies, stoneflies, caddisflies,
midges, damselflies, dragonflies, water boatmen, back swimmers, alderflies, scuds,
terrestrials, and even baitfish. Hatches on rivers and streams, plus lakes and ponds, are all
included. Dave explains insect recognition, selecting effective imitations, and how to rig
and present those flies as the natural insects might arrive in front of feeding trout.

Limited to 30 participants
$35.00 per participant

The workshop includes a one hour lunch break. Participants are welcome to bring a sack
lunch. Gold Hill is 2 miles north and has several dining opportunities. Coffee and
bottled water will be available at the workshop.

2020 Membership Due

Membership renewal letters will be arriving via US mail soon.  In order for the Board of Directors to determine the club's budget for the coming year, it is important and helpful that your renewal dues are paid by December 31st.  As an extra incentive for meeting the December 31st deadline, there will be a special raffle at the January meeting for all members who pay their dues by Decermber 31, 2019.

Southern Oregon Fly Fishers Annual Auction - November 9th

Hey Rogue Fly Fishers!  It is a little more than 2 weeks away until we, Southern Oregon Fly Fishers, hold our annual fund raising auction and dinner on November 9th. This is our annual fund raiser and all money raised goes to support the club’s next year expenses. Just to name a few, it goes to pay for all the speakers we bring in which not includes the speakers’ fee, but also their travel and lodging. Then there are the donations that we make to conservation programs and organizations as well as the scholarship we offer yearly to a student at Oregon State who is studying fisheries management. Among other things are the monthly dinners that the club subsidizes over the actual cost, and also the many other costs that are incurred just to run the club.

We would like to invite you to attend!   It's always a fun event and the more people that attend the auction dinner, the more funds that can be raised from the oral auction, the silent auction and the cup raffle. Right now we have a bare minimum  of 79 people attending, we need 41 more attendees to have a full house. Just remember this is an event that you can bring your spouse or significant other to, perhaps your brother-in-law or your next door neighbor or your co-worker.

Time is growing short as John Smith, the auction dinner coordinator, needs to get his dinner count to Grants Pass Golf Course in by November 1^st. Let’s make this auction a rousing success and let’s fill up those empty spots. At the October 16th club meeting, there will be an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a quilt for a Casting for Recovery fundraiser. 

This is a beautiful oversize lap quilt crafted and donated by the Material Girls of Shady Cove. 

Tickets are $5.00 a piece and 100% of the money raised goes to support Casting for Recovery!

Representatives from State and Local agencies will provide information including the rules, regulations and the impact of the hemp industry in Josephine County. A brief question/comment period will follow presentations.

Oregon lacks adequate staff and regulatory oversight of the exploding Industrial Hemp Program. This is an important meeting, so please plan to attend and voice your concerns on problems such as:

ILLEGAL POLLEN DRIFT (ORS 105.505)

HOT HEMP and enforcement loopholes

UNDERMINING of OLCC and OMMP inspections

TOURISM Negative consequences due to smell and unsightly plastic

LOSS OF WORLD-CLASS THC GENETICS that are irreparably tainted

Don’t miss this wonderful Event!  Last year was a big success with great food and camaraderie!  Like last year, we will have tying demonstrations, games, clinics and instruction. This year we have a raffle with a chance to win a TFO Rod and Reel.

The Event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with BBQ served around 3:00 p.m.  The meal will include BBQ’d Pork Ribs, Grilled Chicken, Ranch Beans, Salad, Fresh Fruit, Grilled Jalapenos and Tortillas.  Chilled water will be provided. However, you may bring your own beverage of choice.

RSVP’s are required by Tuesday, September 3rd and $5.00 will be collected at the event.

Time is approaching fast for the Annual WINE DINNER at Daisy Cr Daisy Creek Vineyard in Jacksonville

Saturday August 17^th

The DEADLINE to get your reservation in is August 9^th

Reservations are required.

We cannot take walk-ins or late comers.

Payment is due in advance.  Cost is $25 per person.

5:30 social hour / 6:30 dinner

Social Hour will include a light appetizer

The main entrée will be Roast Pork Loin with Apples, Onions & Cider Sauce. 

The vegetarian entrée for those who prefer it will be Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms with Spinach & Cheese. You must specify if you prefer the vegetarian entrée when you mail in your reservation.

Both entrees will have access to the buffet with Rosemary Red Potatoes, Garden Veggies, Green Salad, Fresh Bread and Peach Cobbler.
