A severe snow storm will converge on the Holy Water at the same time as our event.  For the Travel safety of our members it is cancelled.  

Now we need to decide if a reschedule is desirable.  Save the ingredients, we may still need them.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Good talking with you this morning.  If you could please add this link to your SOFT Blog and also coordinate to send this out to whoever manages your list serve, that would be great.   We recently started a list serve for emailing Rogue Fish District Updates to interested members of the public, guides, NGO’s, etc.  We currently have over 1100 people signed up to receive updates.  This is similar to getting email notifications regarding Cole Rivers fish counts, summer Huntley Seining project updates, etc.  I included the rest of the Holy Water committee as we had discussed this.  Get on it gentlemen if you did not receive an update yet!

Additionally, my program, the Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP), also puts out a quarterly newsletter called “Fishworks”.  It is a joint Restoration and Enhancement Grant Program (R&E) and STEP newsletter that you can subscribe to by email.  Unfortunately, on our website I only see the winter 2014 .pdf newsletter.  More current versions have been coming out by email.  I’ve notified my statewide coordinator of this in order to get the most current versions updated to the web.

A Very Special New Year Event

New Years Day Chili Contest at the Holy Water aka Rivers Edge Park.

Bring a pot of chili, or cornbread, or other side item, and sometimes we can be tempted by sweets. 

The Details;  Two fly fishing clubs, the Southern Oregon Fly Fishers (SOFF) and the Rogue Flyfishers (RFF) will participate.

At 10:00 will be the kindling of the fire and the commencement of the entertainment.  Fish stories will most likely be rife.  Fish if you like or be a wuss and stand by the fire and tell everyone that you forgot to purchase a fishing license.

At noon, more or less, we will begin sampling the chili.  And remember, it is a contest.  Voting will determine the winner.  Last year Harry Foster lobbied very hard for his chili but lost to Tanya Haight.  This year Harry thinks he has his chance since Tanya won’t be there.  This might turn into the Harry Foster Challenge.

The chili must be of your own device and cannot be something you just dumped from a can.  You cannot move or hide the chili of another contestant.

This is a no-no!
