Creel Survey Reminder

Creel surveys are held the first Tuesday and the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Holy Water.  These are important events in our efforts to determine the health of the fishery at the Holy Water and we can use the help of any club members who are interested.

The next survey will be this coming Tuesday, March 6.

If you are available to fish on Tuesday, please show up at Riversedge Park by 11:00 AM.  Fishing is done between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Please have a net for landing the fish.  It is also good to work with a partner if possible.  Having a pen, clipboard and camera are also helpful.

For more information and to sign up, please contact Will Johnson at the Ashland Fly Shop at 541 488 6454.

Hello Fly Tying and Fly Fishing Enthusiasts!

The Northwest Fly Tyer & Fly Fishing Expo is right around the corner.  The committee has been busy putting everything together.  Here are some of the highlights.

Expo Classes
Each year we offer great classes.  These include fly tying, casting, and fly fishing.  There is a class on Introduction to Dutch Oven Cooking and Basic Fly Plate Construction.  You can view the class schedules broken down by day:
Sign up for classes today as class sizes are limited.

Fly Tyers
The Expo started with the tyers 30 years ago and this tradition continues to be the focal point of the show.  We have close to 200 volunteer tyers who come and demonstrate their tying techniques.  Check out the tyer schedule and make plans to get some great tying tips.  Here are some of the featured tyers that will be attending this year.

Friday Reception
There will be a reception dinner held on Friday evening (March 9th).  There will be a live auction during the reception along with a meal.  Everyone is invited.  Tickets are only $10, and are limited, so pick up your tickets today.  Packages are also available if you want to save on raffle tickets and banquet tickets.

We are excited for this years and Expo and we hope to see you there!

ODFW Volunteer Angler Education Instructor Training

ODFW Volunteer Angler Education Instructor Training

Ryan Battleson (ODFW) sent us the following email.  Give him a call or email if you are interested!
Greetings all,
I wanted to let members of your clubs know about an upcoming ODFW Angler Education Training offered on Feb 12 at my office in Central Point (see below for address). We’ll likely be doing another training in March or April too (but no hard date yet). If folks are interested in becoming a certified Volunteer Angler Education Instructor, attending one of these trainings is necessary.  I would highly encourage anybody that has even thought of it in the past to attend, as you will also be networked into a group within the Rogue Valley with other anglers, interested in passing down their knowledge to the next generation.
Would you please forward this email and the attached flyer on to your respective list serves.  The deadline to sign up is actually tomorrow!  Folks have to contact Jenny Ammon ( 503-947-6081) to sign up.  We sent a press release out about a month ago, but I don’t know how many folks get those (also attached).  I will be present at the training and give an overview of the STEP program and volunteer activities as well.
